FAQ

Have Questions? We've Got Answers About Our Chiropractic Care

  • What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a treatment provided by a licensed doctor of chiropractic (a chiropractor) to restore ideal joint function and alleviate pain in the musculoskeletal system. This can be anything from back pain, headaches, neck pain, or pain and stiffness in any of your body's joints.

  • How Does It Work?

The manipulation and adjustment of the spine relieves pain by realigning and relieving muscle strain so that irritated nerves can be freed of pressure. It also restores joints and muscles to a better level of mobility, without pain.

  • What conditions do you specialize in treating?

We treat a wide range of conditions like: Headaches and injuries to the neck, shoulder, upper, middle and low back, hips, and all the extremities.

  • How can chiropractic care alleviate chronic pain or discomfort?

By restoring/improving pain-free range of motion, chiropractic care helps both acute and chronic conditions so you can feel better and get back to work or doing the activities you love.

  • Does the Treatment Hurt?

Actually, the treatments usually feel good! There will be relief of pressure in your areas of pain and you may feel more relaxed and less "tight" after your appointment. If exercise is part of your therapy, you may experience some mild muscular discomfort the day after you exercise, but this is easily relieved with an application of ice.

  • Do I need x-rays before a chiropractic visit?

If you have recent x-rays, CT’s or other lab results on the area of concern, please bring those for your first visit. If you do not have any recent images and they need to be taken, we can do so on site.  The doctors will determine if you do or do not need images; it is a case-by-case decision, when clinically warranted.

  • How is your office different from other chiropractic offices?

We provide a warm, friendly and welcoming environment.  We take the time to listen to you and take great care to help you achieve the goals you want to reach with our experienced and expert treatment.

  • Is a referral from my primary doctor needed or can I just schedule an appointment?

Chiropractic care is accepted by most insurance companies, including referrals for massage therapy from them.

  • Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most insurance companies but are in-network with Aetna and Blue Cross.  We are also a participating provider in the ChiroHealthUSA Discount Network which is a program that allows patients without insurance or if one has exhausted their insurance coverage to receive chiropractic and massage care at a discounted rate.

  • Will my insurance cover services at your chiropractic office?

We will be happy to check with your insurance company to verify your benefits.  If you want to know before you come in, just give us your information a day before so we have time to check for you.

  • How much does it cost to visit a chiropractor?

The cost of chiropractic service varies based on insurance coverage and what the individual needs. The doctors will determine an individual care plan which will dictate what services are provided; this will determine the cost.

  • What should I wear to a chiropractic appointment?

We will be doing some combination of an adjustment, therapies, and rehab at each visit.  It is easiest for the patient if they are wearing clothing similar to what they would at the gym.

  • Can you help with sports-related injuries?

Yes. Chiropractic care helps improve athletes to improve their performance and prevent sports injuries.

Did you know that all major sports teams have their own chiropractor that travels with them to help keep them functioning at their optimal level.

  • Do you see only specific age groups, or can all ages be seen?

All ages can benefit from chiropractic care.  Like Dr. Matt says, “From the womb to the tomb.”

  • Do you have a massage therapist in your office?

Yes, we have 4 licensed massage therapists that have been here for many years.

  • How does massage therapy help with the adjustment?

It depends on each individual, but some hold an adjustment better having the massage before while others hold the adjustment after the massage.

  • How often do I need to schedule an appointment?

Frequency of visits depends on the reason you come in for.  Initial appointments with the doctor are scheduled for 1 hour and then for 15 minutes.  If massage or a therapy is done, they will be longer depending on the therapy or the length of the massage.

  • Do you recommend any at-home exercise?

Yes, we provide individualized exercises to improve your condition.

  • What is Subluxation?

This term refers to a misalignment of the spine caused by a dysfunction of the joints of the spine. If the spinal column is not functioning properly, the nerves around it can become overly excited or inhibited. This may be caused by phisycal trauma or even stress. These nerves serve various areas of the body and can present with a broad range of symptoms. If you have had subluxation for a long time, it may take several sessions to restore proper function to the spine which will allow the nerves to heal.
